Overview

Redesigning a fragmented global platform into a practical tool for healthcare professionals

I worked as a UX Designer on the redesign of a platform for Healthcare Professionals, used across multiple countries and affiliates.

The old experience had unclear information architecture, outdated UI, and no strong shared model. Analytics showed that users rarely stayed longer than a few seconds, which made the need for change very clear.

During the pandemic, this project felt especially meaningful. The goal was not only to improve KPIs, but to create a better professional tool for people who needed fast, reliable access to medical information.

Research

What HCPs and Patients actually needed

I supported the Lead UX Designer during stakeholder workshops, research synthesis, and user interviews.

We worked with business and digital strategy teams to understand country-level needs, existing content, platform constraints, and the possibilities of the AEM system.

Because pharma research has strict legal constraints, direct user interviews took longer to arrange. In the meantime, we used existing Roche research, internal data, and workshops to shape the first product direction.

Once interviews started, the core insight became clear: healthcare professionals were not looking for a general content portal. They needed a focused tool that helped them find specific drug information quickly.

Design

Scalable blueprint for local markets

I worked on early ideation, sketches, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for user testing.

My main focus was designing product and drug pages, improving the secondary navigation, and helping simplify how users moved between therapeutic areas.

I also explored a new “Contact us” flow that changed the interaction from waiting for a callback to choosing how and when to be contacted.

We used the newly introduced Roche design system to speed up delivery and create a consistent MVP that could work as a blueprint for different country affiliates.

Learning

Designing for complexity, regulation, and real professional pressure

This project taught me how important it is to design around real user intent, not internal assumptions.

The old platform tried to serve too many purposes at once. Through research and testing, we shifted the product toward a clearer role: a professional drug information tool supported by strong navigation, focused content, and practical contact options.

I also learned how to work within the constraints of a large regulated organization, where legal approvals, global governance, local market needs, and design quality all have to move together.
